About me

Hi, I’m Maria Olăreanu, Interior Designer …and I believe interiors should feel as thoughtful as they look. With an interior design perspective formed at Istituto Marangoni Milano and work experience in Milan, I create bespoke spaces that are refined, functional, and closely attuned to the people they are made for.

Maria Olăreanu

For me, bespoke interior design always begins with people — how they live, what they value, what they need from a space, and what they want it to quietly express. When it comes to restaurants, hospitality spaces, or boutique commercial environments, the interior should tell a story.
I see interior design as a way of creating environments that feel personal, yet functional. My work is guided by a refined visual sensibility, but never by aesthetics alone. I believe a well-designed interior space should not only look beautiful, but also support the way people live, move, feel, and experience it on a daily basis.

My Story & Experience

My journey into interior design began with a natural attraction to beauty, atmosphere, and the emotional impact of space. What drew me in was not only the visual side of design, but also a curiosity to understand how the design of an interior space can affect your life on a deeper level and change how you feel within a place.
Studying interior design and working in Milan had a defining influence on my perspective. As a graduate of Istituto Marangoni Milano — one of the world’s leading design schools — where I graduated 110 Cum Laude, I was immersed in an environment that sharpened my understanding of contemporary aesthetics, spatial storytelling, and the visual language of refined interiors. Being surrounded by one of the world’s most influential design capitals profoundly shaped the way I create and approach each interior design project today.
I had the opportunity to collaborate with Chanel as part of a university project. I worked directly with the Chanel team throughout the process, contributing to the development of a concept that was later selected as a winning project.
This experience allowed me to engage directly with industry professionals, refine my creative and strategic thinking, and better understand the standards of an international luxury brand. It also contributed to my development in interior design, which is the field I am currently focused on, influencing the way I approach spaces, materials, and visual storytelling.
I work with professional interior design tools such as AutoCAD, 3Ds Max, D5 Render, and Adobe Creative Suite, combining technical precision with a strong sensitivity for atmosphere, composition, and detail.
I am inspired by interior spaces that feel coherent and intentional, where light, materials, proportions, and mood come together in a natural way. For me, good interior design is never only something you see. It is something you feel.

Design Philosophy

01.

Efortless

I believe an interior space should be beautiful, but it should also make sense. A well-designed interior is not only aesthetic. It is functional and aligned with how people will experience it. I always look for balance between beauty and utility in my bespoke interior design approach, because the most successful spaces are the ones that feel effortless while being carefully thought through.

02.

Tailored approach

My approach to interior design is always tailored. I do not believe in standard solutions or fixed formulas. Every client, every interior space, and every project has its own rhythm, and I see my role as translating that into a bespoke design language that feels personal, refined, and lasting.

03.

Empathy

What defines my work as an interior designer is not only the result, but also the way I build the process. I pay close attention to detail, and I care deeply about understanding the person behind the project. Empathy and listening are essential in interior design, because the most meaningful interiors come from a real understanding of someone’s needs and aspirations.

What I Bring

My work as an interior designer is also guided by values that matter deeply to me — authenticity, clarity, functionality, good taste, attention to detail, and respect for the client's vision, investment, and timeline. My goal is always to create interior spaces that feel elegant, resolved, and genuinely connected to the people they are designed for.

Let's Start with a Conversation

Whatever the interior space you have in mind — residential, hospitality, or boutique commercial — I would be glad to hear more about your vision and explore how we can bring it to life in a way that feels both personal and beautifully resolved.
